AP Govt Withdraws Appeal Against Stay On Swiss Challenge Method

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday withdrew its appeal against a Hyderabad High Court's stay order on Swiss Challenge method.

The government submitted its withdrawal petition before a division bench of the High Court which was to examine the case. The state advocate general informed the bench about the withdrawal even before the the hearing was to begin. The AG also told the court that major changes were made in the Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Development Enabling Act.

It may be recalled that a single judge bench has earlier passed interim orders putting on hold further process in the Swiss Challenge Model intended to give the contract for construction of the new capital city Amaravati. That order has been challenged by CRDA commissioner and principal secretary (municipal administration) before the division bench.
