AP Genco told to focus on critical power stations

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today directed the APGenco officials to commence the work of 2,400 MW three Super Critical Thermal Power Stations in the state and complete it within 3 years.

The total estimated cost of the three thermal Power Stations would be about Rs 13,200 crore and will be set up each 800 MW Thermal Power Stations at Krishnapatnam, Nellore district (new), Vijayawada Thermal Station and Kothagudem Thermal Station expansion, according to a release from the Chief Minister's office late this evening.
Reddy today approved the setting up of new Thermal Station at Krishnapatnam and the remaining two are approved earlier. About 1,200 people, ranging from engineer to worker will get the employment in the three power stations, the release said.
Government has already given coal linkage to Vijayawada and Kothagudem power stations and coal will be imported for Krishnapatnam Thermal Station. The required land, water and other facilities for setting up of these stations are already available with APGenco, it added.
