AP Cabinet Approves Enchanced Security Cover for Chandrababu Naidu

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Monday decided to further enchance the security cover of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with immediate effect.

The decision was taken in view of the recent encounter between Maoists and special police parties of AP and Odisha where over 28 Maoists were killed on the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB). Also, the Maoists had released a letter threatening to attack the CM and his family to avenge the killings at AOB. Anticipating harm to the chief minister, the cabinet approved the deployment of additional forces at the Chief Minister's office in Velagapudi, at his house and also increase the personnel and fleet strength of the CM's convoy. The complete security cover would be granted to all the family members of the chief minister including the TDP's national secretary Nara Lokesh.

The chief minister currently has a Z plus security cover and protected by the black cat commandos, besides several wings of the state police.

The cabinet granted its nod for creation of nearly 290 posts to the elite Chief Minister's Security Group (CMSG). The security personnel from trained armed groups would be immediately drawn up and posted to the CMSG to enhance the chief minister's security needs.

The cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
