AP bandh successful, jittery Govt arrests key YSRCP leaders

With the AP Bandh going on in a peaceful and complete manner, a jittery TDP government resorted to crackdown on Saturday. Responding to the bandh call given by the YSRCP, shops, business establishments, petrol bunks and others were closed voluntarily.

YSRCP activists turned out in large numbers to take our rallies and processions slamming the AP Government’s failure to get special status accorded to Andhra Pradesh.

Party senior leader and MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for their spontaneous support. He said the success of the bandh should be an eye-opener to all political parties, which were duping the people of the state.

Vijayawada: YSRCP leaders Parthasarathi, Kodali Nani and Vangaveeti Radha have been arrested from the Pundit Nehru bus station at 5 AM in Vijayawada. The bandh has been voluntary and complete in the city.

Tirupati: Party MLAs  Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Narayana Swami, former MLA Bhoomana Karunakar Reddy were arrested. The bandh has been peaceful. The Bandh is complete in Chittoor.

Vizag: Party senior leader V Vijayasai Reddy and several others were arrested in Visakhapatnam town. They staged a dharna at the Jagadamba Centre. 

Rajahmundry: A massive bike rally was taken out through the streets of Rajahmundry by the YSRCP workers. Bandh was also reported from P Gannavaram in East Godavari district.

Dharmavaram: The police resorted to high-handed measures in this town in Anantapur district. They arrested party leader K Venkatrami Reddy and imposed Section 144 in the town.

Tiruvuru: The bandh of YSRCP began early on Saturday and all business establishments remained closed. The bandh is being enforced under the leadership of MLA Rakshana Nidhi.

Avanigadda: In Krishna district’s Avanigadda, the bandh began in the wee hours. Constituency incharge Ramesh Babu and district secretary Narsimha Rao are leading the bandh.

Jaggaiahpet: Former MLA and YSRCP leader Samineni Udayabhanu staged a dharna at the RTC bus station and prevented the buses from plying.

Bhimavaram: Bandh began early on Saturday. It was led by former MLA Grandhi Srinivas. Srinivas however, suddenly collapsed while interacting with the media. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Paderu: The police arrested MLA G Eswari, MPP chief V Mutyalamma and a large number of woman workers of YSRcP in Paderu in Vizag agency area.
