Ants Bite Four-Day-Old to Death

Vijayawada: In a tragic incident, a four-day-old infant was bitten by ants in the pediatric ward of the government hospital here on Monday, leading to his death.

According to parents of the infant, the infant bore ant-bite marks on his chest and hands. The mother, Lakshmi, and relatives noticed severe bite marks and loss of blood in the early hours of Monday and that the baby had died by that time. However, the hospital authorities claimed that infant might have died due to heart and breathing problems. They, then washed their hands off the issue.

The father, Anjaiah, is an auto driver in Guntur but had brought the expectant mother to Vijayawada government hospital for a better treatment. YSRCP leaders Parthasarathi and Nivas Reddy joined the parents in protesting against the negligence of the hospital authorities.
