Another jolt: After HRD, Smriti Irani dropped from CCPA as well

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dropped her from Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA). Smriti Iran was a special invitee to CCPA. 

New Delhi: In an another set back to Smriti Irani, who lost Union HRD Ministry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dropped her from Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA). Smriti Iran was a special invitee to CCPA. Smriti Irani, DV Sadananda Gowda and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are no longer part of Cabinet committees after the latest reshuffle in CCPA. Smriti Irani’s successor in HRD Ministry Prakash Javadekar has been replaced her in CCPA as well. Similarly, Ravi Shankar Prasad, the new Union Law Minister, has replaced his predecessor DV Sadananda Gowda in the Panel.

The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh heads the CCPA, which is mandated to recommend the dates of Parliament sessions. CCPA has 11 members including three special invitees. Other members in CCPA are Union ministers Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Ram Vilas Paswan and Ananth Kumar.

Smriti Irani, DV Sadananda Gowda and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are no longer part of Cabinet committees after the latest reshuffle in CCPA. Smriti Irani’s successor in HRD Ministry Prakash Javadekar has been replaced her in CCPA as well.

The newly-inducted minister of state in the law ministry PP Chaudhary has also been made a special invitee. S S Ahluwalia, who is now the junior minister in the ministry, has replaced Rajiv Pratap Rudy as a special invitee. Rudy has been divested of his minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs portfolio. Minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is another special invitee.

Najma Heptulla, the Minority Affairs Minister who had resigned from the Union Cabinet earlier this week, is no more a member of the Panel.
