Anganwadi Workers Lay Siege to Collectorates in AP Districts

Vizag: Thousands of Anganwadi workers went on a massive strike in various cities and towns across Andhra Pradesh on Friday.Demanding immediate solution to their long pending issues such as pay hike and other facilities, workers comprising mostly women took out rallies in Vizag, Kakinada, Kadapa, Srikakulam and other towns before laying siege at collectorates. The government earlier assured them that a GO will be issued resolving their problems when they held an indefinite fast, but later ignored the issue, the CITU leaders said. Leaders were taken into custody, but the agitation was going on. They said the agitation will be intensified if the government did not respond immediately.
