AMARAVATI: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that March 25 will be a Red-Letter Day in the history of Andhra Pradesh to mark Ugadi festival as house-site pattas will be distributed to the poor people.

Reviewing the progress of Spandana programme here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said accountability should be the hallmark of the programme while receiving grievances from people and clearing them in a week. He said alerts are a must to make the programme a success.

While alerting the officials that only a month was left to take up the programme of patta distribution, he said the goal could be achieved only if the work was taken up on a war-footing. Along with the Chief Secretary, he appointed secretaries of various departments to oversee the patta distribution programme.

While Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney and Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash were appointed to oversee the programme in East, West Godavari Krishna and Guntur districts, Chief Advisor Ajay Kallam was appointed to oversee Prakasam and Nellore districts, CM’s secretary Arokya Raj was appointed for Rayalaseema districts and his additional secretary Dhanunjay Reddy was appointed to oversee North Andhra districts.

The Collectors were advised to take the help of these officials if need be and complete land acquisition, marking of plots by March 1. The marked plots should be developed at the earliest and beneficiaries decided on the basis of a lottery and the Collectors should be liberal in allocation of plots, the Chief Minister said and added that there should be a thorough supervision of the requisitions received from the people for plots from ward and village secretariats.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure the completion of the house-to-house survey and mapping at the earliest by the volunteers at the ward and village secretariats as it would enable them to deliver the schemes at the door-steps easily. He said maintaining attendance register for the staff at the secretariats should be made mandatory.
