Rs 62 Cr. Allocated For YSR Vahana Mitra Phase Two

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Peri Nani announced that beneficiaries who are eligible for 'YSR Vahana Mitra scheme' in the second phase, have been finalized. He said that Rs 62 crores was sanctioned under the second phase of YSR Vahana Mitra,on Wednesday, November 27.

Speaking to media, the minister said till now 2,36,343 persons have availed the scheme in the first phase out of the 2,39,957 applicants.

The Transport Minister said that the State Government had received a total of 65,054 applications for the second phase, out of which 62,630 were identified as eligible beneficiaries for the applied scheme.

The AP government has provided financial assistance to 2,36,340 beneficiaries in two installments. Rs 230 crore budget was allocated for this scheme, said Peri Nani.

The scheme was a promise made by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during his Padayatra before the elections.

It may be recollected that the AP CM had launched the 'YSR Vahana Mitra scheme' to provide Rs 10,000 financial assistance to auto, taxi and maxi driver/owners yearly.

The minister said the rules of the scheme were relaxed till October end allowing for those whose vehicles have been registered in another family member’s name, like their mother or wife, to apply.

Perni Nani said that among the social groups that have availed the benefit, 14,528 were SCs, 2,714 were STs, 26,696 were Bcs, 8,196 were from the Minorities, 6,661 were Kapus, 112 were Brahmins, 3,487 were EBCs and 245 were Christians. The benefit would be credited into the accounts of the beneficiaries.

The minister said those who apply next year would also get the benefit as part of the programme and Rs 236 crores has been sanctioned so far in the first phase.

As part of the second phase, Rs 62 crores has been released today as per the instructions of the Chief Minister. The scheme is being simplified to benefit maximum number of applicants and all their grievances are addressed by the officials at the ground level, the Minister said.
