Amaravati Expert Panel Seeks People’s Opinion By November 12

Tadepalli: An expert panel constituted by Andhra Pradesh government has come forth to seek people's opinion on state capital Amaravati and other projects in the capital region on Monday. The panel, will receive the opinions and suggestions from people by November 12 either through email or in a letter format.

People can email their suggestions to expertcommittee2019@gmail.com by November 12, an official release by the new committee appointed by the Government said in an official release.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government had constituted a five-member panel, comprising urban planning experts, headed by retired IAS officer G. Nageswara Rao. The panel would review the development plans and also suggest a comprehensive strategy for the states all-round development and submit a report within six weeks.

The other members of the committee included Mahaveer, Professor of Planning, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi; Anjali Mohan, Urban and Regional Planner; Shivananda Swamy, CEPT, Ahmedabad; K. T. Ravindran, retired professor, Delhi School of Architecture; and K. V. Arunachalam, retired Chief Urban Planner, Chennai, as its members.

Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana had said last week that the government will decide after receipt of the expert committee's report whether to go ahead with the development of Amaravati as the state capital or look for another location.

The panel will visit various regions in the state and elicit people's opinion on the capital city. It will take into account the conditions in various regions and submit its report in six weeks. The government will decide the feasibility of whether Amaravati should remain as the capital of Andhra Pradesh based on the committee's report.
