Working Group Formed To Study APSRTC Merger Issues, Action Plan

Tadepalli: Andhra Pradesh government constituted a seven-member working group to study and submit an action plan for the merger of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) with the government on Thursday.

The Committee will submit its report by November 15, on various issues like posts & designations, pay scales, a new public transport system, service conditions applicable to various categories of employees, CCA regulations, takeover of establishment matters etc.

In the first week of October, the State government constituted a committee under the supervision of Principal Secretary (Transport and R&B) MT Krishna Babu to study all aspects related to the APSRTC merger. The committee members decided that it was necessary to form a working group to study the merger in detail, hence the above committee was formed.

Assistant Secretary (Transport and R&B) Ch Venkateswara Rao will be the convener of the working group who have been selected from various departments like Finance, General Administration, Law ,Public Enterprise and Transport.

The State Cabinet Meeting in September approved of the merger of the APSRTC .As part of this, the state government will set up a new public transport department and all the APSRTC employees will be regulated as per the suggestions made in Anjaneya Reddy's Commission.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed Ministry of Transport, Finance, Justice and General Administration to complete the process of the merger and all the related issues within a span of three months. The AP government will take over its financial responsibility which amounts to Rs 3300 crore, through this merger.
