YS Jagan Review Meeting over Housing Scheme Works

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting with the Andhra Pradesh state of housing infrastructure Officers on Thursday, October 17, and ordered officials to complete data collection and verification of the beneficiaries of the Housing Scheme by November. He also instructed that the survey of the existing lands should be completed by October and to start procuring additional required land for housing schemes in November.

Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Buggana Rajendranath and Ranganatha Raju attended the meeting.

YSR Congress party president, taking a dig at the Former AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, who led Telugu Desam Party, said that unlike the previous governments, the YSRCP government is now registering the lands which are being distributed to the poor people. YS Jagan expressed his anger over Chandrababu Naidu for taking back the land allotted to the poor during his regime. Adding to that, YS Jagan suggested the officers utilise only government lands for the construction of houses.

The CM suggested that the officers mainly focus on building houses in all the possible places rather than allotting plots for the poor people in apartments located in the urban areas.

YS Jagan also directed the officials to make arrangements for the regularisation of illegal structures. He also added that the authorities should only charge a nominal fee for registration for land up to 2 cents.

AP CM ordered officials to prepare a proposal for charging regularisation fees for the land of more than 2 cents.

YS Jagan reminds the officers over the serious threat to people's lives who are residing in the homes along the river banks, and they should be shifted to the safe houses which were being built under the AP government housing scheme, and he even suggested them to regularize the houses of people who are residing in safe places.

Officers explained to the AP CM the selection of beneficiaries through village councils, and the number of beneficiaries in rural and urban areas are 20,47,325.

Officers added that they have identified 19,389 acres in rural areas and they still need 8,000 acres for the completion of housing schemes to the beneficiaries in rural areas. They found 2,559-acre land in the urban area and still required another 11,000 acres in urban areas. Officers finally estimated that at least Rs 10–12 crore are required for this process.

AP CM had strictly instructed the officers to display all the eligible candidate's names in the Gram and ward secretariats. The beneficiaries who did not qualify for the housing scheme should be informed of the reason behind their non-eligibility. YS Jagan ordered the officers to keep the Instructions below the names of beneficiaries.
