Justice J K Maheshwari Appointed Chief Justice of AP High Court

New Delhi: Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari of the Madhya Pradesh High Court was appointed as the first Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Thursday.

A senior Judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Maheshwari will be the first Chief Justice of the recently bifurcated Andhra Pradesh High Court and his name was in the list of seven names of Judges who were appointed to the various High Courts in the country.

The High Court which was functioning from the state capital Amaravati, was being headed by acting Chief Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar, along with 12 other sitting judges.

As per an official release by the Law Ministry, seven judges were appointed to the High Courts in the country.

Justice J K Maheshwari, a judge of the Madhya Pradesh HC, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Justice Ravi Shankar Jha, acting chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Justice Ajai Lamba, a judge of the Allahabad HC, has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

Justice Indrajt Mahanty, a judge of the Bombay High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice in Rajasthan High Court.

Justice A Mani Kumar, a judge of the Madras HC, has been elevated as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Justice L N Swamy, a judge in the Karnataka HC, has been elevated as Chief Justice of the the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Justice A K Goswami, a judge in the Gauhati High Court, has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
