MEDEF (French Business Confederation) Seeks Long-Term Partnership With Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: Members of MEDEF, French Business Conferenation visited Andhra Pradesh today to support trade, investments, technological cooperation and long-term partnerships.

The delegation interacted with Bugganna Rajendranath, Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Planning, Legislative Affairs, Kurasula Kanna Babu, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Minister of Energy, LV Subramanyam, Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Dr PV Ramesh, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Guy Sidos, Chairman and CEO, VICAT Building Materials led the 39 member delegation to Andhra Pradesh and said that ‘France was an important partner to Andhra Pradesh and relations were attached to culture, spirit and soul’

The Finance Minister said ‘Andhra Pradesh had infrastructural synergies, excellent local population that is adaptive, friendly and works towards common good of Andhra Pradesh’

Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said that the Government plans to develop MSMEs and provide a fillip to semi-urban centres.

Andhra Pradesh has quicker opportunities to urbanize and welcomed France in the growth story of Andhra Pradesh

Ramakrishna, CII said that “Andhra Pradesh was improving the competitiveness of the industry and networking with strategic partners such as France to interact with industries, bridge partnerships and bring best practices to Andhra Pradesh”

A task force and working group from CII, APEDB and MEDEF would be created to explore opportunities of the partnership between Andhra Pradesh and France.

Kurasula Kanna Babu — Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation welcomed “investments in agriculture, food processing, cold chains and warehousing and said that these were thrust areas for the Government of Andhra Pradesh”

Additional Chief Secretary P.V.Ramesh said,

“The delegates have come with interest in diverse sectors smart systems, energy, conservation, food processing and various infrastructure projects. The main interest of French delegation is to find investment opportunities in AP,”

“They (French delegates) are very impressed. They have said that they would make AP the preferred destination in India. They would be partnering with Andhra Pradesh. We have together agreed that we will set up a joint Task Force comprising the members of MEDEF. I am very confident, under the leadership of CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy will carry the state forward. It will contribute to rapid economic development.,” he added.

Officials from Andhra Pradesh were very impressed with the innovative ideas and technologies showcased by the French companies and welcomed their request to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

MEDEF is the most representative organization of the French private sector at an international level and gathers 7100 French companies every year including 55 CEOs of major French companies. 39 business leaders from transport and logistics, smart cities, infrastructure, energy, agriculture and building materials sought collaboration with Andhra Pradesh in the sectors of urban infrastructure, smart cities, urban development, automobile, solar, renewable energy and logistics.
