Security Heightened In AP Coastal Areas Following Terror Alert

The high alert has been raised along with the south coastal areas in the wake of warnings from the central intelligence agencies that possible infiltration by terrorists from Pakistan through the sea route. All the Marine police stations are kept under high alert, Coastguard and Navy teams have been on patrol in coordination with marine police stations. Counter Intelligence Wings are also investigating the motions of strangers on the coast.

Andhra Pradesh covers 140 kilometers of coastline. There are 130 villages along the area. Marine Police Stations kept surveillance on Iskapalli, Dugarajapatnam, Sriharikota and there is a Marine Outpost at Krishnapatnam Port. Intelligence Bureau (IB) alerted that terrorists have entered into Tamil Nadu through Sri Lanka port last month. Recently, the surveillance has been further strengthened with IB warnings that terrorists may infiltrate the southern coast once again.

Police started collecting the fingerprints of people traveling through boats by biometric and started an interaction with local people and elders to identify if anyone new persons spotted along the coasts and asked them to provide immediate information if they found someone suspicious by calling 1093 toll-free number. Coast Guard personnel are patrolling the sea. At Krishnapatnam Port, the police intensify the patrolling.
