Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting with Women and Child Welfare Department officials and instructed officials to take utmost care in implementing the welfare schemes and see to that they reach out to the intended beneficiaries. Present in the meeting was Minister for Women and Child Welfare Taneti Vanitha along with officials, which was held in the CMs Camp Office at Tadepalli on Monday.

Whether using biometric devises, Iris identification systems, or video screening, the Chief Minister said that the formalities and procedures in implementation should not be complicated and the purpose of the scheme should be served by ensuring that maximum number of people will get benefit out of the schemes.

The Chief Minister also said that a helpline should be set up at Village Secretariats to respond to the emergencies arising from villages and proper mechanisms should be evolved to solve them. He also instructed that all District Collectors to get a fund of Rs One crore each for meeting such emergencies.

YS Jagan also instructed that compensation amount of Rs 7.48 crores pending by the previous government, be released immediately.

The Chief Minister enquired about the possibility of starting Village level courts to settle petty and minor disputes of land and other issues quickly.

Expressing concern over nearly 7,000 kids not joining schools from Anganwadis, the Chief Minister asked the officials to take effective steps to check the dropout rate and admit them to schools after assessing their abilities.

He also laid emphasis on womens' health, as anaemia rate was higher among women. He said that officials should take necessary steps by carrying out timely tests and providing treatment immediately.

The officials had said that since the Government is spending Rs 22.50 on pregnant woman (per person). YS Jagan stressed on maintaining quality and hygiene and care should also be taken for the child's health. He said that pictures of the present day Anganwadis should be taken for comparison in the coming three years.

Efforts should be on to make use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support, funding by NRIs and contributions by philanthropists for women and child welfare. YS Jagan also added that physically challenged people should be provided with equipment necessary for their movement and also spoke about establishing counselling and de-addiction centres should be set up for alcoholics.
