Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh State Secretary for Civil Supplies, Kona Sashidhar issued a clarification stating that there was no deadline to update Aadhaar and Electronic Know Your Customer (E KYC) details in and the process can be done at the ration shops (PDS outlets) only. He also reiterated the fact that there was no need for people to panic and rush to the Aadhaar enrollment centres for this purpose.

To avoid the rush and confusion and dispel uncertainty among the public, the Secretary issued a circular on Sunday, to clarify these doubts.

Electronic Know Your Customer (EKYC) is mandatory for white ration card holders for updating their PDS cards. In the wake of government guidelines for updating details of ration cardholders through EKYC process has resulted in a huge rush at Aadhaar enrollment centres.

Under EKYC, all the family members above five years of age should enroll their details through E KYC at fair price shops (PDS /ration shops) only in the form of fingerprints verification. There was no need to go to Aadhaar enrollment centres for this purpose.

Even if the EKYC details are not updated or yet to be updated does not bar them from purchasing essentials from ration shops.

He requested public not to worry about Aadhaar update, as there is no deadline and can be updated as per their convenience. There is no need to rush to Aadhaar enrollment centres, banks, service centres, Mee Seva centres or post offices now, the release said.

The Aadhaar Biometric for school children will be conducted at the schools itself. The government will send special teams to schools and Anganwadi centres in the coming days and the Aadhaar details can be updated there itself.

The EKYC process should be done where the consumers purchased rations i.e. the PDS shop.

If KYC has been done at the ration shop then there is no need to do it again.

YSRCP MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy earlier said that there was no deadline to EKYC registration. “No dealer can deny ration to any person citing non registration into e-KYC. If anyone is found doing so, punitive action would be taken against them, he added.
