Tirumala: Thanks to the new reforms introduced by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board and the decision to cancel the VIP and L1, L2 and L3 break darshans in Tirumala, has resulted in more than 5,000 devotees having darshan of the Lord on a daily basis.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who had appointed YS Subba Reddy as the Chairman of the TTD Board, had given clear instructions to maintain Hindu traditions and give high priority to the comforts of the devotees and cleanse the temple town from the any kind of clout and corruption.

The Temple over a period of time acquired a bad name due to the lobbying and black marketing of VIP darshan tickets that had facilitated the privileged to have access to Lord Venkateswara. With the scrapping of VIP darshans it has put a check to this activities to a major extent and allowing additional time to devotees who come in the Sarva Darshanam queues.

Thee L1 list was for the VVIP officials such as judges, senior officers and Ministers, while the L2 was for TTD employees and their family members, besides lower level officers and government representatives. The L3 list relates to those getting recommendation letters from sitting MPs, MLAs, TTD staff and higher cadre state officials.

YS Subba Reddy earlier clarified that alternative arrangements would be implemented to replace the 'break darshan'. He also said that the authorities have been asked to look into the possibilities for reintroduction of the darshan system after the Archana pooja, which was done earlier in 2012.
