AP Ward Secretariats For Urban Local Bodies To Be Constituted

Amaravati:The Andhra Pradesh State government issued orders for establishing ward secretariats in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State on the lines of village secretariats, on Saturday.

About 3,775 ward secretariats, with 10 secretaries each, would be set up with an aim to ensure that the welfare schemes reach the people of the State as envisioned in ‘Navaratnalu’ by the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

As per the Government Order issued by Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, J Syamala Rao, each ward secretariat would cater to 4,000 population in ULBs.

The notification for the recruitment of the secretaries would be issued on Monday, the GO said. Written tests for the applicants would be held between August 15 to September 15, and the appointments would be made by September 20.

The secretaries recruited initially will be on probation for a period of two years at a consolidated stipend of Rs 15,000 per month. After probation, the department concerned would fix the salary as per service rules. As per the GO, the budget required for establishing ward secretariats, development of infrastructure and payment of salaries is estimated to be Rs 630 crore.
