Guntakal Beggar Who Made Lakhs Seeking Alms Outside Mastan Vali Dargah Dies

Vijayawada: Ever wondered, a beggar asking for alms could also be a lakhpati. Here's a story, a 'lakhpati' beggar died in his sleep near Mastan Vali dargah in Guntakal town of Anantapur district.

Police identified the beggar as Basha and he was begging for alms near the dargah for 12 years.

The police received a call from a devotee of Mastan Vali that a man was lying dead outside the dargah premises. When they inspected they found took them for a surprise. The bag which he carried had Rs 3.2 lakh in it.

Circle inspector Anil Kumar and sub-inspector Ramakrishna Reddy told a leading daily that they first checked the bag to find out if there was any identity card, but there was none. Later, police found currency notes and coins that he has been saving for the past years.

His body was later shifted to the government hospital mortuary in the town.

When cops counted the money, they found Rs 3,22,676 in the bag. But, Basha never invested on any asset or opt for a lavish lifestyle.

Some people also said that he was 'chillar agent' for many shops nearby.
