Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered officials to hasten the process of distributing Rs 1,150 crore approved by the State government to the victims of AgriGold scam.
Speaking on the second day of the Collectors' conference here on Tuesday, YS Jagan said the State government would soon convene a meeting with AgriGold management, victims and CID officials to ensure justice was meted out to those who were duped in the scam.
He instructed officials to expedite the process of seizing the properties owned by the AgriGold management. The decision to allocate Rs 1,150 crore to AgriGold victims was taken during the first Cabinet meeting after the YSRCP stormed into power. Around nine lakh victims would be benefitted by this decision.
Lauding the commitment shown by YS Jagan to the promises made to them, AgriGold Customers Welfare Association president Vishwanath Reddy said only YSRCP government had the commitment to bring the culprits to book in the scam. AgriGold scam is a Rs 7,000 crore interstate scam in which nearly 32 lakh poor depositors from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karnataka states were duped.
