RTC Buses To Go Off Roads In Andhra Pradesh From June 13

The employee unions say strike has become inevitable as management remains noncommittal on their demands  

Vijayawada: The APSRTC employees have finally decided to go on an indefinite strike from June 13 after the talks between employee unions and the management on Wednesday failed to break the impasse over the former’s demands.

The employee unions said they have no option but to resort to non-cooperation as the management remained non-committal on their demands even after submitting their demands 13 days ago. They asserted that they would remain steadfast in their resolve until their demands are accepted.

Some of the demands of the employees are clearing the arrears pending from 2013, withdrawing the decision to remove 4,000 employees from service, merging APSRTC into the State government, immediate payment of Rs 650 crore pending from the government to APSRTC, and withdrawing the decision the government’s decision to hike passenger fares.
