Vishakhapatnam: In yet another case of medical apathy and poor civic infrastructure, a man's corpse had to be carried 10 kms in a makeshift cradle after the ambulance stopped due to poor road conditions in the village.

The incident occurred in Andhra Pradesh’s Koyyuru mandal located in the district of Visakhapatnam, according to a leading web portal.

In a heart-wrenching video it can be seen that two men carrying the body of Marudi Sarveshwar Rao (53) in a makeshift cradle which is made up of a blanket and a wooden rod. The men allegedly carried the body for 10 kms.

According to reports, Rao was admitted to Vishakhapatnam's King George Hospital on Wednesday, after he was referred to the hospital by staff at the Public Health Centre in Chintapally. He succumbed to his illness on Thursday after which the tribal cell wing of the hospital arranged for an ambulance.

It may be noted that in the mandal while some roads were supposedly under construction, others are worked on and abandoned before the work got completed. Hence, no vehicles were able to pass through the road in the interior parts of the mandal.

In yet another instance in 2018, a pregnant woman was forced to give birth on the road after she failed to reach Salur hospital on time due to poor roads condition. Although a medical team was sent to the area, she had given birth before that.

In the video that was released the woman's relatives made appeals for helping them as they are left clueless where to go and whom  to approach.
