Hyderabad: Two Advocates have come forward raising the objection against the VIP darshan system at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

Representation was also submitted to the Executive Officer of TTD in this regard on Tuesday. Objecting to the VIP darshan to a few dignitaries in the categories of L1, L2, and L3, Advocates, Umesh Chandra PVG and Somasekhar Vaddi pointed out that such categorization leads to blatant infringement of the fundamental right of Right to Equality pledged by the constitution of India.

Indicating that all are equal in the eyes of almighty according to the fundamental principle of theology, hence any practice discriminatory would not have been sanctioned by him or by Dharma Shastras, the advocates submitted in the representation.

They also contended that the class categorization doesn't classify under the scope of reasonable classification which is a sole exception to the concept of Right to Equality.

The advocates further mentioned that unlike the privileged classes under L1, L2, and L3, certain sections of the society are deprived of offering prayers to the deity in the closest possible vicinity due to the categorization of people on the basis of class, thus restricting an individual's Right to Freedom of Religion.

Urging the TTD Executive Officer to take appropriate action against this discriminating practice, they added that they would even approach the High Court if there is no progress.
