Vijayawada Rural: A case where two Class 9 girls were caught consuming alcohol in class came to light recently in Vijayawada rural area. The incident took place in Nidamanuru village, where the two girls who were studying in the Zilla Parishad High School, mixed alcohol in cool drinks and drank it in the class itself. In their drunken stupor, they started misbehaving with the other girls in the class and created a ruckus. Unable to bear their improper behaviour, the classmates informed the school principal Suresh Kumar about the same.

He called both the girls’ parents and a doctor to the school and tried counselling them. But realising that their addiction had gone out of hand and would cause further embarrassment, he issued TCs to both of them.

Apparently, the school principal Suresh Kumar said that one of the girls' was from an English medium school which she was sent away from for improper conduct, he said.

To prevent any such untoward incidents, the school authorities have decided to install more than 40 CCTV cameras in the classrooms, halls and other places in the school to ensure students’ safety in the future.
