Tirumala Will Be Closed Tomorrow, Find Out Why

Tirupati: The sacred shrine of Lord Venkateshwara temple here will be closed tomorrow, July 27, for over nine hours due to lunar eclipse. According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's (TTD) almanac, the eclipse is expected to begin at 11.54 pm on July 27 and last till 03.49 am the following day. The TTD board reached a decision to continue the tradition and close the temple six hours before the expected time of the commencement of the lunar eclipse.

The lunar eclipse will mean that the Lord Venkateshwara temple's main doors will shut at 5 pm tomorrow and will remain closed till "shuddhi" and "Punyavachanam" rituals are carried out at 4.15 am on July 28. Also, the monthly ritual "Punnami Garuda Seva", which is scheduled to be held on July 27 stands cancelled.

In the wake of the eclipse, the temple will not hold any daily rituals that are performed inside the temple tomorrow. The pre-dawn rituals in 'Ekantham' will be observed on July 28, it is learnt.
