Amaravati: The state government has put in place an effective delivery system for sand with sufficient quantities of sand in all stockyards. On the orders of chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, APMDC has devised a transparent system of online booking of sand which will be launched on September 5. To this effect, it has split 102 sand reaches into 47 schedules (with 2-3 reaches in each schedule). It has also initiated a process of reverse tendering to ensure that sand reaches stockyards. As per the directives of chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the new sand policy has been designed to be fool-proof, ensure total transparency and delivery of sand to those who in need of it at a reasonable price.

The state government has issued directives to officials to ensure delivery of sand from September 5. The revenue generated to the government through this transparent, corruption-free process will be ploughed into welfare schemes, according to government officials. Sand mafia has ruled the roost over the past five years under the TDP regime, government sources pointed out. Officials said that this sand mafia is conspiring to sabotage the YSRCP government's transparent policy, but their designs will be foiled and such forces dealt with firmly, they added.
