Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh minister for civil supplies, Kodali Nani said that the state High Court had only issued a stay order on the Polavaram contract, but did not say that the job should be given to Chandrababu's relatives. He was speaking to reporters in the Velagapudi secretariat complex on Thursday. Nani slammed TDP leaders for rejoicing over the High Court order saying that issuing a stay order was a normal process of law. TDP leaders are afraid that if the contract is given to a new vendor, they would have to repay kickbacks they took earlier from the previous contractors. Chandrababu Naidu and Devineni Uma are therefore, sore that the AP government would save public money through reverse tendering.

The AP minister for civil supplies pointed out that several hurdles were bound to come up in eradicating corruption. Once chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy returns from the US, the state government would mount a legal challenge to enable it to go in for reverse tendering, he said.

Kodali Nani also faulted TDP leaders for creating a needless controversy by citing his colleague, Botsa Satyanarayana's remarks over the capital project. There was nothing wrong in what minister Botsa said, he pointed out. Nani added that his senior colleague did not say that the capital city would be shifted.

The municipal administration minister stated that floods in river Krishna or heavy rains, would lead to widespread inundation of areas in the capital region.

Minister Botsa only flagged the flaws in the project, he added. Kodali Nani remarked that Botsa also pointed out that construction costs would be higher in Amaravati as compared to other places. Nani observed that rampant corruption had taken place in the capital city project and that the YSRCP government had already constituted a sub-committee in this regard. No one however high and mighty would be spared if found guilty, he asserted.
