CM YS Jagan Sets Timeline For Welfare

Amaravati: Chief Minister Sri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had a hectic day with a series of review meetings on various subjects and has set the date and timeline for the launch of various welfare programmes besides hinting at priority sectors in industrial sector and the sand policy that will come into effect from September 5.

The review meetings held here on Tuesday began with Spandana where it was told that 1, 08, 997 grievances were received last week. The flood situation in Godavari and Krishna rivers, recruitment of village volunteers, launching of Rythu Bharosa programme and priority sectors in industrial sector were dealt with by the Chief Minister during the day-long meetings.

The village volunteers would get to know the people from August 16 to 23 and from August 26 to 30 beneficiaries would be identified for the distribution of land sites, from September 1 to 10, efforts be made to deliver subsidized rice and pensions at the door-steps of the beneficiaries. The rest of September would be for training of volunteers while the Village Secretariat launch would be on October 2.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be invited to launch the YSR Rythu Bharosa programme on October 15, the Chief Minister said and asked the district collectors to see that the programme was implemented in a fair and transparent manner. The village secretariat would issue the cards to the tenant farmers to be applicable for 11 months.

The Chief Minister was told that 90 per cent of the grievances received in Spandana are being solved. The Chief Minister was in regular touch with the collectors and SPs to check that people’s grievances were being received regularly through call centres.

Regarding the copious water being received through Krishna river due to rains, he said all the crest gates of the irrigation projects have been opened.

The Chief Minister said a record has been set in recruiting village volunteers. He said 2.5 lakh volunteers were recruited in 40 days. He said the village volunteers would start functioning from August 15. The volunteer would act as a bridge between the people and the village secretaries

The sand policy would come into effect from September 5, the Chief Minister said when it was brought to his notice there was shortage of availability of sand to the builders despite government efforts to the contrary. He said that the APMDC was making efforts to set up way bridges and video cameras in all the sand reaches till September 5.

During the teleconference, the collectors told the Chief Minister said that some of the sand reaches were closed due to floods.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to take up contingency plans in the Krishna river basin where there was possibility of flooding. While floods to the Godavari river was receding efforts should be made to provide proper medicare to the affected, the officials were told.

On the housing front, he asked the officials to conduct a survey on the requirement of house sites for the people in the district by taking a village as a unit.

In the review meeting on Industries Department, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite the work to identify 25 Engineering Colleges where Skill Development Centres would be set up to cope up with the 75 % job reservations for locals.

There should be transparency in all the projects that the Government takes up from ports, airports, metro rail, electric buses and other projects that would come in the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) module, he said.

Pollution should be controlled and toxic waste should be controlled and permission should be given to industries only after getting clearance from the Pollution Board.

Economic empowerment of women should be on high priority while, steps should be taken to bring APSRTC out of the red, he said.
