Amaravati: Medical and Health Minister Alla Nani assured ANMs (Auxiliary Nursing Midwives) of the State that none of them would lose jobs.

A total of 7,418 ANMs are currently working under various categories in the State. With the State government announcing that 13,540 ANMs will be appointed afresh for the upcoming Village Secretariats, a sense of fear and anxiety have gripped among those who are already rending their services. Nani's assurance comes against this backdrop.

Assuaging the fears of ANMs, he said the newly appointed ANMs would be in addition to the existing ones. In fact, the serving ones can actually apply for these posts as well and would get a 10 percent weightage due to their working experience.

"Even if they (serving ANMs) do not clear the exam for recruitment of new ANMs, they will be continued in their posts. There is no need to be apprehensive about losing jobs," he said seeking to allay their fears.

Clarifying that the YSRCP government had no intention of harming anyone's interests with regard to ANMs' appointment, he squarely blamed the Opposition of spreading confusion and canards to mislead the people. He reminded that it was only two months since the current government had come into the office and the Opposition should be patient rather than being frustrated and intolerant.
