Amaravathi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised TDP President and Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu for using the legislature time for pushing his own motives and selfish agenda. He said that all the frauds done by the TDP government will come out soon and they would bring them to the public notice

Responding to the ruckus created by the TDP members in the assembly over the Polavaram issue, he failed to understand why the TDP was creating an issue out the Polavaram project when the Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation has been briefing on the Polavaram project and enumerating details for the last three days. We have also set up a committee of experts to examine the way the whole project was handled by the previous government, he said.

I visited the Polavaram project recently and it was evident that there was a lapse in the construction work by the previous Government. Without completing work in the Spillways they started focussing on the Coffer Dam. Even that wasn't completed and they left many works pending . The Godavari width was reduced by 70% due to the Coffer Dam. With onset of the rains, the floods will start from June to October and at any cost the construction should restart from November 1. Our aim is to provide water from Polavaram by the year 2021. We are also going to adopt reverse tendering process for the first time in the Polavaram project. The TDP government has allocated contracts to subcontractors of their choice and there have been scams which have emerged in the way the whole projects was conducted by the TDP government, he said.

Even though there was no construction work undertaken the government allotted Rs. 724 Crore as mobilization advances to a new firm called Navayuga Company. Bases on the report submitted by the experts we are getting details about how much money could have been saved through their estimates, he said. We will be going through the reverse tendering process with regards to the construction project, he said.
