Vijayawada: TDP is all set to become irrelevant with no leader or a supporter willing stay back in the party. Most of TDP leaders are in touch with them to join BJP, Madhya Pradesh former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said.

Chouhan was in Vijayawada on Sunday to kick start the BJP's membership drive and spoke to press persons.

Launching a tirade against TDP, he said Chandrababu Naidu instead of concentrating on State's development focused solely on bashing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He recalled that it was Chandrababu Naidu who had several times in the past sought 'special package' instead of 'special status'. Instead of developing the State, Chandrababu Naidu siphoned off Rs 17,000 crore given by the Union government for his personal benefit.

Stating that the BJP has set 25 lakh target for its membership drive in Andhra Pradesh, he exuded confidence in strengthening the party from booth-level in the State. "Remember, BJP has grown from absolutely nothing to the level of capturing power in most of the Indian states, besides recording an emphatic victory in 2019 General Elections," he added and alluded to the fact that BJP stood a chance to emerge as a major political force to reckon with in the State.

While stating that BJP would serve the poor in the country, he appealed to politicians of all hues in the State to join the party if they were willing to work for the party and its principles.
