Stating that the YSRCP government is committed to zero percent interest loans to farmers

Amaravati: Stating that the YSRCP government is committed to zero percent interest loans to farmers, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said that they had earmarked Rs 100 crore for the purpose.

In response to TDP query as how government would achieve this, Reddy in a statement said: "Our government has earmarked Rs 100 crore in this budget. TDP has raised a question as how we will do this. We are currently in second week of July in the 2019-20 fiscal year. Recently, we have decided to provide Rs 85 crore as crop loans to farmers in SLBC meeting. Those farmers who repay these loans as per schedule will become eligible for these loans from April 1, 2020. The allocations should be made in next financial year starting from April 1, 2020 in the next budget to provide zero percent interest loans. So, we have earmarked Rs 100 crore in this budget. Since from next year farmers should pay zero percent interest loans, everybody should understand that the allocations will be huge in this regard."
