The YSR Congress Party termed the Union Budget as disappointing for Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: The YSR Congress Party termed the Union Budget as disappointing for Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media here, YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader, V. Vijayasai Reddy, said that the issue of Special Category Status to the state was touched upon, much to the dismay of people of the state. He also pointed out that implementing provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act found no mention in the Budget. The senior YSRCP leader criticised the Centre for ignoring the demands of Andhra Pradesh. The state did not stand to gain in any way from the Budget, he added. There was no clarity on the funds allocated to Andhra Pradesh, he said.

Vijayasai Reddy clarified that owing to the indifferent attitude of the TDP government the state found itself in a deficit state of Rs. 60,000 crore. He reminded media persons that the Centre had promised to help Andhra Pradesh, but did not deliver on its assurances.

The senior YSRCP leader also said that there was no reference in the Budget to funds related to Polavaram or Amaravati. Vijayasai Reddy said that the YSRCP would fight for the rights of the people of the state. The party's MPs would articulate their concerns in parliament, he pointed out.

Other points highlighted by Vijayasai Reddy with respect to the Union Budget, are:

* Gross injustice to AP when it comes to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam metro rail.

* No clarity on allocation to AP under Bharatmala and Sagarmala.

* Overdraft of Rs. 5,000 Cr towards DWCRA women's self-help groups, a welcome move.

* No clarity on zero budget agriculture.

* Swatch Bharat mission lacks full momentum on the ground.

* Aadhar for NRI's: A welcome step.
