Amaravati: In wake of reports doing rounds that former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's security cover has been downgraded, DGP Gautam Sawang rejected such reports as false and clarified that, in fact, he was offered more than what the guidelines had actually permitted for him.

Speaking to press persons, he said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had given them free-hand in safeguarding the law and order in the State. He said no body would be spared if peace and tranquility in the State were undermined.

The DGP informed that efforts were being made to lift cases against the protesters fighting for Special Status, as per the instructions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He particularly took objection to spate of cases filed by TDP and YSRCP supporters against each other, and pointed out that some had mala fide intent to dub personal rivalry as political clashes.

As per the directions from CM YS Jagan, he said "Spandana" grievance redressal units were set up in Superintendent of Police and Commissioner of Police offices across the State. He said the novel initiative was attracting people in droves to lodge their complaints directly with officials concerned.
