Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority has started dismantling the government building 'Praja Vedika' on the Krishna riverbed at Undavalli here on Wednesday, with the High Court declining to stay the action.

Questioning the government's action a Public Interest Litigation was filed in the High Court on Tuesday. The PIL was filed by Poluri Srinivasa Rao an agriculturist from Karamcheru mandal in Prakasam district. On Tuesday night a House Motion petition was filed on an emergency basis , with the State Chief Secretary, Water Resources Chief Secretary, Municipal Chief Secretary, former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former minister P Narayana and others as main respondents to the case.

The case was heard by an emergency bench consisting of Justice M Sitaramamurthy and Justice G Syam Prasad. But the Court had declined to give any sort of directions or interim stay. In fact the Court questioned the petitioners law suit which had direct reference to it as an illegal building in the petition.

In a direct question, the Court asked the petitioners as to what would the public benefit by this litigation. Hearing the Advocate General Sriram Subramanyam's contention, it fully agreed with the government's perspective. The court said that it would listen to the aspect pertaining to the recovery of the money spent on the building construction and adjourned the matter for further hearing after four weeks.
