New Delhi: YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy urged the Centre to honour the promise of Special Status made to successor state of Andhra Pradesh as a precondition to the bifurcation.

Reddy highlighted the long pending issue during the Address of Motion of Thanks to President in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He particularly sought the intervention of current Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, who in his earlier capacity as a minister in the NDA government had made a strong pitch for the Special Status to AP.

The Centre should ensure that Polavaram project is completed as per the deadline and wipe out the irregularities that had taken place during the TDP regime. He also requested the Centre to complete the pending Kadapa Steel Plant, Dugarajapatnam Port, Vishaka - Chennai Industrial Corridor, Kakinada Petro Corridors, and wanted erstwhile excluded Srikakulam and Vizianagaram to be included in Vishaka Railway Zone.

Reddy said that the YSRCP had secured an historic win in AP and rooted out the TDP government, which was riddled with corruption, nepotism, and casteism. He said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was envisaging making AP a corruption free state and where democracy thrived without any scope for political defections. Like in AP, he requested the Centre to enhance the pay of Anganwadi workers up to Rs 10,000 a month.
