Muncipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana alleged that the TDP government had left Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA)

Amaravati: Muncipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana alleged that the TDP government had left Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and the attendant land pooling, allocation, and the construction works that followed with massive corruption. He said the State government was at a loss to ascertain the amount of public money that was looted in the process - pointing to the massive scam.

Speaking to press persons here on Wednesday after attending Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy review meet on CRDA, he said that a decision was taken to give back lands to farmers who had forcibly parted with their lands due to TDP government’s pressure. “No farmer henceforth will be forced to give their land to capital development if they are not willing,” he added.

The Minister said officials couldn't arrive at a figure as to what extent corruption had taken place vis-a-vis capital construction, and hence there would be another meeting in the coming days.

"But, it emerges clearly that lands were given to TDP leaders' relatives and their supporters in complete violation of norms. There are also many irregularities in lands allocated to farmers," he added.

The review on CRDA lands was held for three hours and a decision was taken to hold a subsequent meeting to further delve deeper to uncover the excesses of TDP. No construction activity with regard to capital would be taken up unless an assessment is done to understand the extent of corruption, he said.

It may be recalled that the CRDA accumulated 53,000 acres of land in and around Amaravati towards capital construction, of which over 35,000 acres' land was pooled in from farmers. There were several instances in which farmers were forced to part with their lands despite their reluctance.
