Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued orders to police officials to lift cases against those protesting for Special Status. Transparency and law and order would be the main goals of the State government, he outlined.

Speaking to officials during the second day of the Collectors' conference on Tuesday, he said the onus of maintaining law and order would not just lie with the SPs and Collectors, but with every employee in the State. He pointed out that the YSRCP government was already taking concrete steps towards maintaining law and order in the State within a month after coming to the power.

"The responsibility of safeguarding democracy in the State lies with everybody," he said and added that the AP Police carried a good reputation in the country.

In enforcing the laws, he instructed officials to work in tandem with elected public representatives and work in a humane manner. He also ordered them to be stern in case of any one violating the law and told officials to set aside their personal egos in exercising their duties.
