Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is at the site of the Polvaram site. This is his first visit to the site on his capacity as the chief minister. He was seen interacting with the officials to collect details about the progress of the project. He is expected to spend an hour at the site during his inspection of the site.

The Polvaram project officials and contractors are said to have briefed the AP chief minister about the progress of the project.

After visiting the project, YS Jagan is expected to hold a review meeting with officers related to the project, and decide the necessary steps taken to expedite the process.

After swearing-in as the Chief Minister, YS Jagan had conducted reviews on various departments and this included the performance of the water resources department with specific reference to the Polavaram project.This is the first time that YS Jagan is visiting the project as the Chief Minister of the state.

It's said that the Chief Minister is considering implementing the reverse tendering process and fix a deadline to the contractors to finish the project or handover the project to the central government.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Water resources Anil Kumar Yadav who had earlier inspected the site on Wednesday said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would visit the Polavaram and review the project, the issue of relief and rehabilitation package for the displaced people and other aspects related to the project. He also informed that people living in 48 villages that were in danger of being submerged in the floods which might occur after July 15, would be sent to safer zones.

Anil Kumar also informed that a special commission was constituted to look into the affairs of the Irrigation project conducted over the past six months. The commission would also review the irrigation projects which have been completed to the extent of twenty five percent.

The main focus would be on the relief and rehabilitation package for the those displaced, the costs and technical aspects about the construction of the project along with an estimate about the time taken for the project to be completed.
