Amaravati: The state legislature on Monday held an interesting debate on the issue of former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu undergoing security checks at the Gannavaram airport and not being accorded VIP treatment. The controversy triggered a debate between the members of the ruling YSRCP and opposition TDP. The state government has confirmed that they have nothing to do with those security checks. YSRCP MLAs Ambati Rambabu and Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who were present at the debate on the resolution to thank the governor's speech, made this point. The Minister of Finance and Legislative Affairs, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy intervened in the issue and explained the government's rules.

While both the parties indulged in a war of words over the security arrangements provided to prominent political leaders in the country, Buggana Rajendranath clarified on the situation. He stated that the Z plus security accorded to the Chief Minister and to the former Chief Minister are completely different. The Minister asserted state government has nothing to do with the security checks conducted at the airport adding that the checks were done according to airport regulations.

Buggana Rajendranath further said that the former Chief Ministers are not exempted to security checks at airports and urged the TDP leaders not to make it an issue without knowing the facts.
