Amaravati: YSRCP MLA Roja said the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government would serve as torchbearer to the cause of women empowerment and welfare in the State by way of numerous welfare schemes.
Speaking in Assembly to thank Governor Narasimhan on his speech, Roja on Monday said women in the State would see a complete contrast in the way they were treated under N Chandrababu Naidu’s government and the current dispensation.
On the flagship programme of Amma Vadi which is aimed at eradicating child labour and promoting enrolment, retention in schools, she hoped that the scheme would receive appreciation from across the country like other schemes such as Aarogya Sri and Fee Reimbursement.
She listed out the numerous schemes promised by the new government that would directly benefit the women folk in the State. In the next four years, around 25 lakh houses would be built in the State and registered in the name of women. There would be no belt shops in the State in the coming days due to promised prohibition of alcohol availability in the State in the phased manner, she added.
The Nagari MLA also said that Rs 75,000 would be given to women of SC, ST, BC, and minority from the age of 45 in the State in next four years. Amma Vadi, she said would bring about a revolution in the State in terms of education and wipe out child labour.
She also used the opportunity to launch a scathing attack on TDP. The past government, she alleged that had indulged in deceiving the women folk by reneging on its promise of waiving off loans of Dwacra women. She also said farmers were also cheated by the promise of loan waiver by the Chandrababu Naidu.
