Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has declared that there would be zero tolerance for corruption in his government. He said that no one would be spared for indulging in corruption. The young chief minister made it clear that from the highest level downwards, corruption would be rooted out.

YS Jagan held a meeting with chief secretary LV Subramanyam to review the tendering process and modify it accordingly to ensure transparency and honesty. Though the TDP government called for tender bids through the Commissioner of Tenders (CoT), the regulations were bent to ensure that the contracts were awarded to hand-picked cronies.

The Chandrababu government also hiked the estimated costs of projects for heavy kickbacks. YS Jagan has made his intentions very clear on this--there would be no room for corruption. The YSRCP government would ensure transparency and rid the system of corrupt procedures.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet the Chief Justice of AP High Court soon to seek the services of a high court judge who would oversee the process of awarding tenders. As per the guidelines of the Central Vigilance authorities, once tenders are called, there should be no negotiations or talks with the contractors. Under the TDP government, contrary to these laid down guidelines, negotiations were held with favoured contractors and estimated costs hiked indiscriminately.

YS Jagan has announced his decision to overhaul the system thoroughly and is determined to check corruption in all areas including tendering procedures. The chief minister will conduct a review of the state of AP's economy on Saturday. The TDP government's wasteful expenditure and its payment of bills to selected, favoured contractors and others even when the Model Code of Conduct was in force, are likely to be scrutinised.

The new chief minister has directed employees to work conscientiously in the stipulated office hours from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm, saying that they need not spend extra hours in the office nor need they work on holidays.
