The new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy added a touch of nostalgia to the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday bringing memories of his father late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. YS Jagan used the same pen with which Dr YSR signed the first file after being sworn in as chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 2004.
Incidentally, YS Jagan used this pen to sign his first file after taking oath as the new chief minister of the state. While Dr YSR's first signature pertained to free power supply to farmers bringing joy and relief to the agriculturists in the state, YS Jagan's first signature as chief minister related to enhancement of pensions to the elderly from Rs 1000 to Rs 2250 which will be increased incrementally to Rs 3000 over the next four years.
YS Jagan also sported a watch worn by Dr YSR for the oath taking ceremony.
