Pawan Kalyan

Actor-turned-politician and Janasena founder Pawan Kalyan lost in Bhimavaram while he is also losing Gajuwaka from where he contested, as per latest reports. It was widely believed that the Jana Sena founder would lose from both constituencies or win by a slender margin. The big question in political circles is—what did Pawan Kalyan achieve by fielding his candidates in the 2019 election? From the day Pawan Kalyan made his entry into the electoral scene, he was percieved as Chandrababu's B Team by many political observers. Analysts pointed out that Chandrababu wanted to split the Kapu vote swinging towards YSRCP. It must be said that Chandrababu failed miserably in his strategy and Pawan lost his sheen to a large extent, by facing such a humiliating defeat. Perhaps, he stood to gain more in the 2014 election when he did not contest any seat and people speculated that he could have won 15-20 seats. In 2019, the Jana Sena's strength at the hustings stands totally exposed.

Pawan knew that he was up against a tidal wave in favour of YSRCP. He was also aware of the fact that there was seething resentment against the ruling TDP. Pawan Kalyan, who earlier criticised Chandrababu and Nara Lokesh for corruption suddenly fell silent on the many scams involving TDP which he had referred to earlier. Where is Pawan Kalyan today? He has been sent into exile by the people of Andhra Pradesh as he was nowhere to be seen after April 11 (AP went to polls). Will he return to films is the other big question. This brings us back to the point why he made a laughing stock of himself and his party by entering the electoral fray.
