Act Against Party Behind Data Theft: EAS Sarma

Retired IAS Office and former Energy Secretary EAS Sharma sought stringent action against the political party responsible for data theft in the two Telugu states.

He said he was certain of the UIADAI role in the transfer of personal information on such a massive scale to IT Grids India Pvt Ltd.

He said it was impossible for such sensitive information to pass into the hands of a private entity without the active involvement of Aadhaar authority officials. Sarma wrote a letter in this regard to the union IT Secretary.

He pointed out that he had written to the Centre in the past objecting to the appointment of senior UIDAI official J Satyanarayana as advisor to the state government.

He also faulted the UIDAI for not reviewing Satyanarayana’s appointment as advisory governance and IT, government of Andhra Pradesh.

Sarma sought a thorough probe into the involvement of Aadhaar officials in the transfer of sensitive data to IT Grids India Pvt Ltd.
