Hyderabad: Castigating TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for his misuse of office and being responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy requested the Governor to intervene and stop growing attacks on the Party cadre, misuse of state funds and safe keep of EVMs.
After giving a representation to the governor on Tuesday, the YSRCP chief told the media: “We have lodged a complaint with Governor ESL Narasimhan about Chandrababu Naidu who has appointed his own henchmen in crucial places to help TDP in all ways during the elections and post poll violence and sought his intervention to put the issue under check. There were many instances of violence and attacks on YSRCP cadre are on the rise as Chandrababu Naidu has given out-of-turn promotions belonging to his community to target the Opposition Party and its sympathizers.”
Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao had gone into the polling booth and locked himself up creating a vicious atmosphere and provoking the onlookers, instigating violence and the police did not file a case against him but registered cases against YSRCP workers in Guntur and other places, he added.
The strong rooms where the EVMs are stored at various places should be guarded and strict vigilance should be placed pressing para-military forces into service as there was an incident in Machilipatnam where unauthorized people had just opened the strong room and there was an attempt to tamper with the EVMs.
The budget approved before the general elections is an vote-on-account one and it should be seen that he does not misuse funds by giving largesse to his favoured few.
On Chandrababu Naidu’s complaint about EVMs, he said, these theatrics are not new for him as he always wanted someone or something to blame for his failure. Instead of gracefully accepting the people’s verdict he has been trying to make a mockery of it.
It was the same EVMs that were used in 2014 when his coalition had won, we did not complain. Just three months before the general elections, Congress won Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka and there were no complaints.
Only when the going gets tough, the weak and losers start shouting and begin searching reasons for their failures.
Before the EVMs are put to use the polling agents verify them and conduct a mock polling of 50 votes and only after they certify do the actual voting begins.
Now if Chandrababu Naidu comes to town singing that he does not even know who he voted for is ridiculous.
Though we had earlier given the same complaint to Election Commission, we have lodged the complaint to the Governor seeking his intervention to stall the growing attacks on YSRCP cadre, safety of EVMs and check the misuse of state funds.
