Voting is under way for 175 assembly seats of Andhra Pradesh simultaneously in a single-phase election on Thursday.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena party are the three main contenders with the national parties the BJP and Congress also contesting in the elections.

Prashant Kishor Condemns TDP Dirty Tricks

Poll strategist Prashant lashed out at the TDP's dirty tricks department for circulating a fake tweet and trying to pass it as his. Kishor in his tweet addressed to Chandrababu, said "when you lose the trust of the people and your faith in their wisdom, after abuses and lies, you stoop down to circulating fake news." He added that only a few hours were left for the polling to close, but it was clear that the people of the state had decided. He signed off saying, it is "time to say #ByeByeBabu

Chandrababu has lost hope: YV Subba Reddy

Senior YSR Congress Party leaderYV Subba Reddy said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's was using "EVM malfunctioning" as an excuse. "He is claiming that when voters press 'cycle', the vote is going to the 'fan'. He is pre-empting his own defeat. This shows that he has lost hope in this election," he said.

Chief Electoral Officer denies reports on 30% faulty EVMs

"Some news channels are reporting that 30 percent of the EVMs are not working, which is not correct. In total, we have 45,959 booths, and we are using around 92,000 EVMs. We got 344 issues and 25 are still pending," said Andhra Pradesh CEO Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said.

TDP, YSRCP workers die in clashes in Anantapur

TDP leader Bhaskar Reddy and YSRCP worker Pulla Reddy died in clashes between party cadre at the polling station in Veerapuram village in Tadipatri Assembly constituency, Anantapur district. Two other party workers are believed to be in a critical condition.

Video of TDP leaders distributing money in Gudivada seat emerges
A video has surfaced which features TDP leaders distributing money in Gudivada Assembly seat in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
In the video, TDP leaders are seen asking voters to vote for TDP, and threatening them that if they don’t, their votes will be deleted and they would be disallowed from seeking benefits of welfare schemes.

Chittoor: Puthalapattu YSR Congress party candidate MS Babu was kidnapped by TDP leaders. The media personnel who went for coverage of the polling at the polling stations were physically assaulted by the TDP leaders resulting in a tense situation.

Vizianagaram: TDP leaders attacked YSR Congress party agent and sent him out from the polling station.

Tirupati: Tension prevailed in Chandragiri constituency after TDP leaders attacked YSRCP activists in a clash.

YSR District: A confrontation took place at Vasanthapeta School in Produttur. TDP leaders attacked YSR Congress party leaders. Police had to intervene and lathicharge to control the situation.

Vishakhapatnam: Another TDP leader was caught distributing money at the polling stations in Visakhapatnam. In Jyotinagar of Marripalem, Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao's supporter Koppireddy Ramakrishna was found with Rs 2 lakhs cash. He was caught distributing money to the voters.

With the TDP leaders targeting the voters at the polling station at RSR school, the YSRCP candidate and Nellore City MLA Anil Kumar Yadav, who attempted to stop them was attacked.

Amaravati: In the wake of the malfunctioning of EVMs being reported at several polling stations across the state, the YSR Congress leaders met the Election Commission on Thursday. Vasireddy Padma, MVS Nagireddy briefed the CEO regarding the polling situation in the state and addressed the media afterwards. They claimed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is afraid of defeat which is the reason he is demanding for re-polling within two hours of polling. The YSRCP leaders are scaring the voters from visiting the polling stations and are campaigning at the polling stations, thus violating the election code.

YSRCP candidate G Srinivas Reddy from Narasaraopet Assembly constituency sustained injuries after his car was allegedly attacked by TDP workers in Yallamanda village. Srinivas Reddy stated that TDP leaders are afraid of defeat, hence are terrorizing the voters. Stating that the TDP leaders have kidnapped YSRCP agents at the polling stations, he informed that they have filed a complaint with the police in this regard.

Visakhapatnam district recorded around 33 percent for the simultaneous elections for the Assembly constituencies. Vizianagaram recorded 35 percent and Srikakulam district - 33 percent by 12 pm.

Stating that some news channels are reporting that 30 percent of the EVMs are faulty, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi denied these reports. Informing that there are 45,959 booths in total with around 92,000 EVMs, the Chief Electoral Officer said that 344 issues were reported and they have rectified most of them with 25 issues still pending. He said 15 per cent polling was recorded in the state till 11 AM.

TDP Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s aide Koppireddy Ramakrishna’s car was caught with cash of more than Rs two lakhs in Jyothinagar near Marripalem in Visakhapatnam.

Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodella Sivaprasad’s son Sivaram resorted to violence against the villagers in Mupplalla Manda Dammalapadu in the district. Accompanied by SI Yedukondalu and went to the booth to threaten the voters there. The local villagers fought back and drove him and SI away from the booth.

Prakasam: TDP leaders distributed money to the voters at the polling station in Kothapet of Prakasam district. TDP leader Chunduru Vasu was arrested by the police on charges of distributing money to the voters at the polling station.

The Election Commission has clarified to the public that the errors in EVMs have been corrected and appealed the voters to exercise their right to vote.

In Anantapur district, voting recorded up to 12.95 percent till 9 am

Nellore district has so far registered 14 per ent polling

The East Godavari District so far recorded 12.36% polling

Vizianagaram: Kuruppam constituency recorded 15 percent till 9 am

Ananthapur: Five YSRCP activists were injured in the Raptadu constituency after TDP leaders attacked them with stones at the polling booths. EVMs were also damaged in the polling stations.

Due to the malfunctioning EVMs, Gopala Krishna Dwivedi was unable to cast his vote at Tadepalli Assembly constituency in Guntur district. Reports suggest that the public is returning home without voting due to this reason.

Kurnool: TDP leader and Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh is earning immense criticism from the voters who complained regarding his continuous presence at the polling stations in a bid to influence voters.

YSR district: Tension ensued at the polling station in Ponnathota Village of Jammalamadugu mandal after TDP leaders prevented polling. Following this, YSRCP leaders YS Avinash Reddy and Sudhir Reddy visited the polling station and are examining the situation.

Mangalagiri YSRCP Candidate Athula Ramakrishna Reddy has undertaken a dharna protesting over the negligence of election officials. Complaining over the malfunctioning of EVMs at several polling stations, he said that the EVMs have been tampered in the regions where votes YSRCP majority is more.

Jana Sena President Pawan Kalyan cast his vote at Siddarthanagar in Vijayawada.

Several TDP activists broke EVMs in Srinivasapuram booth of Gurazala constituency following which the polling was stopped.

TDP workers distribute money along with voter slips to people at polling booths in Nandyal and Nandamuri nagar.

YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has cast his vote at Pulivendula in Kadapa district. Addressing the media after casting his vote, YS Jagan said that people are seeking change and urged the new voters to cast their vote.

The polling in Andhra Pradesh started smoothly at 7 am. Voters are queuing up to vote. Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, Chief Election Officer of the State Election Commission has taken steps to ensure peaceful elections in Andhra Pradesh. The mock polling was held on Thursday morning at 5 am in the presence of polling agents. 46,120 polling booths have been set up for the 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Several booths in Kuppam Assembly constituency reported EVM glitches and polling began late at some booths across the state.

The EVMs were stuck the 38th polling booth in Parvatipura. EVMs were not functioning in the 122nd polling station in Anantapur Urban constituency. The polling began at 7 am today. Webcasting has been set up in 28,000 locations for 46,120 polling stations across the state.

EVMs did not work in Mangalgiri constituency of Guntur district. In Tadepalli, EVMs didn't function in 10 polling stations. The same continued in polling booth numbers 20,24,26, 39, 27, 51, 54, 69.

Technical glitches resulted in polling getting delayed in several polling stations in Guntur district.

The YSRCP MLA Pedireddy Ramachandra Reddy, the Rajampet Parliament YSRCP candidate Mithun Reddy and Tambalapalli YSRCP candidate Pedireddy Dwarakanath Reddy stood in queue because EVMs did not work in Chittoor Mandal.

26 percent voting recorded till 9 am in Vijayawada West.

Due to malfunctioning EVMs, voting has been delayed in a number of polling booths, forcing people to wait in queues.

AP Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said that about 50 EVMs reported technical glitches across the state and teams are working to set the things right.

Guntur: TDP leaders prevented three YSRCP agents from entering the booth in Narsaraopet zone and kidnapped them. The YSRCP agents were also attacked in the incident resulting in an agent getting injured. YRSCP Narsaraopet candidate Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy was also attacked by the TDP leaders.

West Godavari: YSRCP convenor Matta Raju was attacked by TDP MLA Badeti Bujji at the in the polling booth at Ramanagar in Eluru with the YSRCP leader sustaining serious injuries and was rushed to the Eluru hospital.

YS Jagan's sister YS Sharmila said YS Jagan has created awareness among the youth regarding the special category status with the Yuvabheri programme conducted in all the districts. Stating that Special Status is possible only with YS Jagan, YS Sharmila urged youth to use their right to vote further expressing confidence on Rajanna governance coming back in Andhra Pradesh.
