AP Polling Centres Will Have Wheelchairs To Enable Disabled To Vote

Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy had announced that the polling stationed will have wheelchairs to be of help to the 44,000 differently abled persons in the district.

He was found inspecting the Wheelchairs being produced to meet the requirements, at the Differently-abled boy's hostel here on Saturday night.

Out of 44,000 differently abled people, over 30,000 people are physically challenged. He had ordered for over 1,688 wheelchairs through panchayats. Over 1,000 wheelchairs reached the district headquarters in the first phase.

Arrangements are being made to see to it that the wheelchairs reaches the necessary polling booths. Wheelchairs are available at differently-abled offices, hospitals and other places in Eluru and other towns have been used for the purpose.

Wheelchair facility can be availed by elderly members as well. All polling stations are being made to accommodate ramps to be wheelchair friendly. Ballots in Braille are being arranged for the benefit of the Blind.
