TDP workers beating up dalits for questioning Ungaturu candidate

Ungaturu/Eluru: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Ungaturu assembly candidate Ganni Veeranajaneyulu's aides beat up Dalit youth belonging to Pedalingampadu village in the region. The incident occurred on Monday night when the TDP candidate was touring the region as part of the election campaign.

When Ganni Veeranajaneyulu's convoy entered the Pedalingampadu village, a few of the Dalit youth spoke about the drainage problems they were facing there. They questioned the TDP leader that nothing was done since the past five years and what was it that they would do now if they voted them to power. The TDP leader's aides T Venkateswara Rao, R Bujjigopal and a few others got into a scuffle with them for questioning the TDP leader. When the youth retaliated, they were beaten up the TDP aides and this led to a mild tension in the village.

The enraged villagers staged a protest against the TDP leaders for coming into their village and beating the youth. Sensing the situation could turn violent, the TDP leader Ganni Veeranajaneyulu beat a hasty retreat. The injured youth Ganta Jagadish, Kurama Suvarnaraju, Pulipati Sunil and few others were taken to the Bhimadolu hospital for treatment.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Ungaturu candidate Puppala Vasu Babu met the injured youth and enquired about their welfare. He said that the TDP leaders were creating a war-like situation by bringing in anti social elements in a bid to win elections. The local YSRCP leaders demanded that cases should be filed against the TDP aides and justice be ensured.
